Frequently Asked Questions
What is an EMDR Intensive?
1
An EMDR Intensive is an extended therapy session designed to give you more uninterrupted time to focus on a specific concern, painful experience, or pattern. Rather than stopping after a traditional 50–60 minute session, intensives provide 90 minutes for preparation, processing, and stabilization.
How is an EMDR Intensive different from weekly therapy?
2
Weekly therapy typically spreads treatment across shorter sessions over a longer period of time. Rather than meeting for 50 minutes with only a short amount of time available for reprocessing, EMDR Intensives allow us to spend more uninterrupted time doing the deeper work. My goal is to give you the space to stay with the process rather than having to stop just as meaningful work begins—allowing healing to feel more focused, efficient, and unhurried.
Do I need to be in therapy already?
3
No. EMDR Intensives can be used as a stand-alone treatment option or alongside ongoing therapy. If you already have a therapist, you can remain with them for your ongoing care while using intensives to address a specific concern.
What can EMDR Intensives help with?
4
Intensives may be helpful for trauma, anxiety, painful relationship experiences, negative beliefs, recent stressful events, performance concerns, and experiences from the past that continue to affect how you feel or respond today.
